Egypt Daily News - US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin held a telephone call with his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov, according to what the Pentagon spokesman. The US Secretary of Defense stressed that diplomacy is the only way to avoid escalation in the Middle East, and we are working with American and international agencies to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
He explained that the responsibility for the ceasefire in Gaza lies with Hamas, noting that we have no plans to deploy American forces on the ground in Gaza.
He stated that the floating dock is a temporary solution to speed up the entry of aid into Gaza in light of the worsening crisis there, and that protecting civilians in Gaza is a priority for the United States.
The US Secretary of Defense explained that there is no winner from the expansion of the conflict in the region and diplomacy is the only way to avoid this, as he believes that it is possible to resolve the tensions on the Israeli-Lebanese border diplomatically, noting that Israel is not a unified bloc and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant made efforts to provide delivery mechanisms aid to Gaza.
It is noteworthy that during the conversation, Austin stressed the importance of maintaining communications between the American and Russian militaries.
