Egypt Daily News – On Tuesday, the Civil Defense in Gaza said that an Israeli airstrike on the Mustafa Hafez School, located west of Gaza City, resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals, which included men, women and children.
They reported recovering the bodies after the attack on the second floor of the school, which was sheltering thousands of displaced people due to the ongoing conflict. Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal indicated that the airstrike also left around 15 people injured.
This incident comes on the heels of another airstrike earlier in the month on the Al-Tabaeen School, which reportedly resulted in 93 fatalities according to Civil Defense.
The broader context of the conflict indicates a severe humanitarian crisis, with countless displaced individuals seeking refuge in educational facilities due to intensified hostilities.
The ongoing Israeli military response has led to widespread destruction and a staggering rise in casualties, with the Hamas Ministry of Health reporting at least 40,173 deaths in the Gaza Strip as a result of the conflict. The relentless cycle of violence has aggravated the humanitarian situation, marking a severe period in the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
