Egypt Daily News – As part of a month-long military campaign, U.S. fighter jets launched a new round of airstrikes targeting Houthi positions across Yemen and particularly in Sanaa.
According to reports on Wednesday, the strikes hit multiple sites in the capital, Sanaa, setting off powerful explosions that echoed throughout the city. The Al-Hafa military camp, located on Jabal Nuqum to the east of Sanaa, was among the primary targets, with heavy aircraft activity observed in the area. Five additional strikes were reported in the Al-Nahdayn district in central Sanaa.
The air campaign also extended to the Takhya area in Saada province, while drones and fighter jets were spotted flying over Ibb province, indicating a broadening of the operation.
These strikes followed one of the most intense bombardments yet by U.S. forces just a day earlier, which targeted Houthi training camps, missile launch sites, and facilities housing military experts. The U.S. military later released new imagery showing preparations for those attacks.
Since March 15, the U.S. has been conducting sustained airstrikes against the Houthis in a bid to halt their continued assaults on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden—strategic trade routes vital to global commerce.
The strikes have reportedly focused on dismantling Houthi military infrastructure and disrupting their supply lines. In response, the Houthis claim their territories have been repeatedly hit, resulting in dozens of casualties. They also say they’ve launched several retaliatory attacks targeting U.S. aircraft carriers in the Red Sea.
Former President Donald Trump weighed in, vowing to eliminate the Iran-backed Houthis and warning Tehran against prolonging its support for the group, citing the escalating threat to international shipping.
