Egypt Daily News – In the latest developments, more than 30 American airstrikes targeted Houthi sites in Sanaa, Al-Jawf, and Saada on Friday evening, according to sources. The strikes hit the Al-Sawad camp, which was the former headquarters of the Republican Guard south of Sanaa. The sources clarified that 8 airstrikes targeted the Al-Sawad area in the Sanhan district.
Additionally, airstrikes hit Houthi positions in the Dhabwa camp south of Sanaa. Several explosions were heard around Sanaa after the airstrikes.
Al-Jawf and Saada
In Al-Jawf Governorate, 8 airstrikes targeted Houthi weapons storage in the Al-Hazm district.
Two airstrikes targeted the Sahar district in the center of Saada.
The sources reported that 8 airstrikes hit Houthi positions around the city of Saada.
Airstrikes also targeted Houthi sites in the Kitaf district east of Saada.
Meanwhile, Houthi media reported that 14 airstrikes hit the area surrounding Saada.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also released footage of the airstrikes on Houthi positions.
Extended Campaign
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that airstrikes on the Houthis would continue for a longer period, confirming that they had suffered significant and painful blows.
In a chat with journalists aboard Air Force One, he said, “The Houthis want to stop the airstrikes and negotiate peace because they have been severely defeated,” adding that they “yearn for peace because they have been hurt badly.”
However, he noted that the Iran-backed Houthis are currently not ready for peace negotiations.
He also emphasized that what the Houthis did to the world, by disrupting shipping in the Red Sea through attacks on commercial ships, “was extremely horrible.”
Trump confirmed that the airstrikes carried out by the U.S. on Houthi sites in recent days were highly successful, exceeding expectations. He said, “We hit them hard and successfully… and we will continue doing so for a long time.”
Since March 15
Since March 15, the United States has been carrying out heavy airstrikes against the Houthis, who claimed they responded by targeting a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Red Sea multiple times. Since then, American airstrikes have been nearly daily on areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.
It is worth noting that after the outbreak of the Gaza war following the attack by Hamas on Israeli settlements and military bases in Gaza’s perimeter on October 7, 2023, the Houthis launched dozens of missile attacks on Israel and the Red Sea, targeting ships they accused of being connected to Tel Aviv, in support of the Palestinians, according to their statements.
However, they ceased these attacks when the Gaza ceasefire came into effect on January 19, 2025. They resumed the attacks with Israel’s resumption of airstrikes on the devastated Palestinian enclave, and vowed to intensify their attacks as long as the bombing of Gaza continues.
