Egypt Daily News – A huge explosion occurred yesterday evening, in an oil tank in the Yemeni port of Hodeidah and massive fires broke out.
There are fears that the fire will spread to another gas tank located near the fires, indicating that civil defense teams are trying to control the fire.
The port of Hodeidah is a vital lifeline and a major entry point for fuel and humanitarian aid to Yemen, where more than half of its population depends on humanitarian aid. The United Nations considers that “any impact on this infrastructure jeopardizes the entry of basic goods and hampers relief efforts.”
This comes after Israeli warplanes launched a strike on the port of Hodeidah, overlooking the Red Sea, which resulted in the death and injury of more than 90 people, in addition to the material damage to the Yemeni port.
