Egypt Daily News – US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed his concerns about the growing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah during a press conference in Manila, yet he emphasized that he does not see an inevitable war between the two parties.
He acknowledged the increased activity along Israel’s northern border but reiterated his hope for a diplomatic resolution to the situation.
Austin’s remarks were made in conjunction with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, following security talks between the US and Filipino officials.
His views align with those of White House national security spokesman John Kirby, who had previously stated that while there are worries about escalating conflict in the region, the Biden administration considers these fears to be “exaggerated” and believes there is still an opportunity for diplomacy to prevail.
