Egypt Daily News – Egyptian wrestler Mohamed El-Sayed Kicho has been detained by French police on charges of harassing a woman during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The incident reportedly took place early Friday morning at around 4:30 AM, when Kicho allegedly placed his hands on a woman’s buttocks in the street after leaving a café where he was spending time.

Following the incident, the victim filed a complaint, prompting the police to arrest Kicho on a highway. He is currently in custody as investigations continue, with the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office involved in the case.

Kicho, who previously won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics, had competed in the Paris Games but was eliminated in the round of 16 after a loss to an Azerbaijani wrestler.

The Egyptian Olympic Committee, led by Yasser Idris, is set to meet urgently to discuss the situation and will issue an official statement to clarify the details surrounding the incident to the public.

Reports suggest that Kicho had been absent from the Olympic Village since the incident, and there are ongoing discussions among the Egyptian delegation, including Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, to take appropriate actions regarding the matter.
