Egypt Daily News – Hamas will not take part in the scheduled meeting on Thursday regarding the situation in Gaza, but may engage with mediators later if there are significant developments or responses from Israel.

The meeting is set to occur in Doha and is expected to include high-level officials such as CIA Director Bill Burns, Mossad Chief David Barnea, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel.

The source indicated that Hamas has communicated to mediators that it has offered considerable concessions but has not received an adequate response from Israel concerning a proposal made on July 2.

Ongoing negotiations for a potential ceasefire are complicated by concerns over a possible attack on Israel by Iran and its proxies.

Last week, President Joe Biden, alongside leaders from Egypt and Qatar, extended invitations to both Hamas and Israel to participate in talks in Doha or Cairo on Thursday.

However, it is believed that recent mediation efforts may not suffice to prevent Iran from retaliating for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, as reported by two diplomatic sources.

Biden remarked on the challenges, acknowledging the complexities surrounding Iran’s potential actions and the connection between those activities and the ongoing ceasefire discussions.
