Egypt Daily News – According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ukraine used US-made Himars missiles to attack a bridge over the Sim River in the Kursk region of Russia, resulting in the destruction of the bridge and the death of volunteers who were evacuating civilians.

The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed this incident, stating that it marked the first reported bombing of the Kursk region by Western missile systems.

In the broader context of the conflict, Ukrainian forces claim to be making territorial gains in the Kursk region, asserting control over more than 80 areas covering approximately 1,500 square kilometers.

However, Russia has contested this assertion, labeling it an exaggeration. Additionally, Russian military sources reported significant casualties among Ukrainian troops, but Ukraine has not offered an official response to these claims.

Both sides engaged in ongoing military operations and information warfare, leading to competing narratives about the state of the conflict and territorial control.
