Egypt Daily News – On Monday, Israeli police confirmed that an explosion that occurred in Tel Aviv was a terrorist attack involving a powerful explosive device.
The incident resulted in the death of the individual carrying the bomb, as well as injuries to a bystander. Hamas has claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place near a Jewish synagogue on Lahi Street during the evening.
According to the Israeli police and Shin Bet, the bomb exploded while the individual, whose identity has not yet been released, was in the vicinity of a truck that may have helped mitigate further damage.
Reports indicate that the suspect was seen shortly before the explosion with a backpack and wearing long clothing.
In light of the attack, police have increased security measures and are conducting large-scale searches across the Tel Aviv area.
The timing of the explosion coincided with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Tel Aviv, where he was scheduled to discuss a potential ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has persisted for over a decade.
Blinken was meeting with senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, amidst rising concerns about regional tensions escalating further.
