Egypt Daily News – The case of Karim Selim, referred to as the “Tagamo’ Serial Killer,” has garnered significant attention due to the severe nature of the charges against him.
The Cairo Criminal Court has decided to seek the opinion of the Mufti regarding the possibility of executing Selim for his alleged heinous crimes, which include the murders of three women under particularly disturbing circumstances.
Selim stands accused of killing these women after engaging in sexual intercourse with them, both before and after their deaths, and allegedly recording these acts.
The defense team has raised concerns about Selim’s mental health, arguing that he suffers from a congenital brain defect and schizophrenia, which the lawyer claims contributes to his criminal behavior.
They have requested that he undergo a psychological evaluation and a CT scan to substantiate these claims.
The prosecution has outlined a disturbing narrative of Selim’s actions, asserting that he tortured his victims in a sound-proof room designed for these purposes and disposed of their bodies in remote locations.
Additionally, he faces charges related to drug possession and human trafficking, as he allegedly forced his victims into prostitution and filmed them.
The upcoming session on September 12 is set to determine the court’s ruling after it receives the Mufti’s legal opinion regarding the death penalty.
