Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Ahmad Fahmy, said the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark and the Prime Minister to President El-Sisi, who reciprocated with greetings and appreciation, reflecting the distinguished relations between the two countries.

The talks tackled ways to further develop the two sides’ cooperation, which are witnessing remarkable progress, notably in the economic, trade, and investment domains.

President El-Sisi commended the significant role of Danish companies in advancing economic development in Egypt, highlighting the ample opportunities for expanding cooperation, particularly in energy, green transition, and maritime transport, for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

The meeting also focused on the situation in the Middle East. The Danish Foreign Minister was keen on getting an understanding of President El-Sisi’s perspective and assessment of the current situation in the region.

President El-Sisi emphasized the utmost urgency to prioritize the path of de-escalation and reach an agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza and the exchange of hostages and detainees, so as to alleviate the dire and miserable living conditions endured by Gaza’s residents.

President El-Sisi reiterated that this shall take place in tandem with a serious and decisive approach to enforce the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, fulfilling the aspirations of the peoples in the region for justice, security, stability, and development.
Mr. Lars Rasmussen agreed with the President’s perspective.

The two sides also agreed on the imperative of the humanitarian role by UNRWA, which shall be supported and protected given the intransigent impediments it faces.

The meeting also touched on several ongoing crises in the region, particularly the situation in Sudan. President El-Sisi emphasized the need to support Sudan, outlining Egypt’s efforts to restore stability there. The President stressed the need to respect Sudan’s sovereignty, national institutions, unity and territorial integrity, and to avoid interference in its internal affairs. He also emphasized the importance of increasing humanitarian support, given the exacerbating humanitarian conditions endured by the Sudanese people.
