Egypt Daily News – During Wednesday’s joint press conference, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi addressed the ongoing concerns regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and its impact on Nile waters.

He emphasized the extended negotiations with Ethiopia, which have been ongoing for over a decade, aimed at establishing a binding legal agreement governing the dam’s filling and operation.

President Sisi highlighted the critical importance of the Nile for Egypt, stating that it is the country’s sole source of freshwater.

He underscored the need for adherence to international standards for transboundary rivers, expressing a commitment to continue seeking a resolution to the issue.

The discussions took place with Germany’s president at the Al-Ittihadiya Palace, reflecting the significance of international diplomacy in addressing this pressing matter.
