Egypt Daily News – U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin expressed concerns about the potential for a full-scale war between Hezbollah and Israel during a meeting in London with British and Australian defense officials.
He underscored that while the situation is escalating and poses significant risks, a diplomatic solution remains feasible. Austin emphasized the grave consequences a comprehensive conflict could have for both Israel and Lebanon, suggesting the importance of choosing a different path amidst tensions.
When questioned about the United States’ stance on supporting Israel, Austin reaffirmed the commitment to Israel’s self-defense and territorial integrity, indicating that there would be no change in this policy.
At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that Israel would continue to act decisively against Hezbollah to ensure the safety of residents in northern Israel, indicating a hardline approach as he prepares to address the United Nations General Assembly.
