Egypt Daily News – Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti”, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), announced that his forces are prepared to implement a nationwide ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.

His remarks were made during a recorded address to the United Nations General Assembly, which followed a speech by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the chief of the Sudanese army.

This announcement comes in the wake of increased military activity, with the Sudanese army conducting operations early Thursday to regain control of strategic areas in Khartoum previously held by the RSF.

The army reported taking control of the Kadru area in Khartoum Bahri, a key supply route for the RSF’s access to fuel, particularly from the refinery in Khartoum.

The operations marked one of the largest military offensives since the conflict erupted, with significant movements from Omdurman into the cities of Khartoum and Bahri.

The Sudanese army shared footage on social media showing their presence in the Kadru suburb, asserting that they had cleared it of RSF forces.

Reporting on the violence, the Sudanese Ministry of Health stated that four civilians were killed and 14 injured in the Karari neighborhood of Omdurman during the recent clashes. Furthermore, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights indicated that at least 78 civilians have died from shelling and airstrikes in the Khartoum area since early September, raising concerns about potential further displacement and damage to civilian infrastructure. Jeremy Lawrence, a spokesperson for the UN, emphasized the urgent need to address the plight of civilians amidst the escalating conflict.
