Egypt Daily News – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently addressed the nation following the airstrike that killed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, in Beirut.
Speaking from the Israeli army headquarters in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu emphasized the necessity of preemptive strikes against those who pose a threat to Israel, stating, “Whoever comes to kill you, you must kill them first.”
He characterized Nasrallah’s assassination as a just response to the suffering and loss inflicted upon Israel, including the deaths of many Israelis and citizens from other nations.
Netanyahu outlined the strategic significance of this action, arguing that eliminating Nasrallah was essential for achieving Israel’s military objectives and restoring safety for the displaced populations in northern Israel.
He expressed concerns that Nasrallah’s continued existence would allow Hezbollah to regain its military capabilities.
During his remarks, Netanyahu did not address calls for a ceasefire on the Israel-Lebanon border, which have been advocated by the United States.
His comments followed a recent speech at the United Nations General Assembly, where he reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to combating Hezbollah and countering Iranian influence.
He declared that there is no limit to Israel’s reach in the Middle East and asserted a “historic turning point” for the nation. Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s determination to fight its enemies, facilitate the return of displaced citizens to their homes, and ensure the release of captives.
