Israeli army announces the launch of a ground military operation in Lebanon

Egypt Daily News – The spokesperson for the Israeli army announced today, Tuesday, the start of a targeted and specific ground operation against Hezbollah targets in the area near the border in southern Lebanon.

The spokesperson stated in a statement: “Based on a decision from the political level, the Israeli Defense Army began a targeted and precise ground operation several hours ago in the southern Lebanon area against the terrorist infrastructure and targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, in several villages near the border, from which an immediate and real threat to the Israeli towns in the northern border emerges.”

He added, “The Israeli Defense Army operates according to a well-organized plan that was prepared by the General Staff and the Northern Command, which the forces have been training for over the past few months.”

The statement continued: “The ground forces are supported by air strikes from the air force and artillery shelling targeting military objectives in the area, in full coordination with the infantry forces.”

He pointed out that “the stages of the campaign have been approved and are being implemented in accordance with the decision of the political level.” The “North Arrow” operation continues based on the assessment of the situation alongside the fighting in Gaza and other fronts.

The army spokesperson confirmed the “continuation of fighting and efforts to achieve the objectives of the war, and to do everything necessary to protect the citizens of the State of Israel and safely return the residents of the north to their homes.”

The statement requested “not to spread rumors and unofficial reports about the activities of the Israeli army, and to adhere only to official announcements.”
