Israel bombing Southern Lebanon

Egypt Daily News – On Monday, Hezbollah launched multiple rocket attacks targeting Haifa, Israel’s third-largest city, coinciding with Israel’s increased military operations in southern Lebanon as it approaches the one-year anniversary of the Gaza war.

Hezbollah, backed by Iran and aligned with Hamas, reportedly targeted a military base south of Haifa with Fadi 1 missiles, as well as launching attacks on the city of Tiberias, located 65 kilometers away. The Israeli military confirmed that around 135 projectiles from Hezbollah fell onto Israeli territory by the afternoon, resulting in injuries to at least 12 individuals.

In response, the Israeli air force carried out intensive bombardments on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, leading to casualties, including the deaths of two Israeli soldiers during the ongoing cross-border clashes.

The rising death toll in Lebanon has included ten firefighters killed in an Israeli airstrike and at least 22 civilians who lost their lives in earlier strikes across various towns.

The Israeli army described its ground operations in Lebanon as “limited and precise,” although they have progressively intensified over the past week. Israeli forces have mobilized units into southern Lebanon following a year of escalating tensions along the border.

Specific operations are aimed at undermining Hezbollah’s military capabilities and securing the border areas where Hezbollah fighters are active.
