Egypt Daily News – The Egyptian Telecom Company (We) announced a price increase of about 31% for home internet and 32% for recharge cards, starting today, Friday.

Mohamed Shamroukh, head of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in Egypt, said last October that increasing service prices “has become a must.” Mobile companies operating in the country have been demanding for several months to be allowed to raise the prices of their services after increasing fuel prices and liberalizing the exchange rate of the pound.

The prices of the new Internet services – excluding value-added tax – will range between 210 pounds for 140 gigabyte speed and 1,360 pounds for 1 terabyte speed, instead of 160 pounds and 1,050 pounds, respectively, according to the “We” website.

The prices of the new pre-paid cards – excluding value-added tax – will range between 13 and 38 pounds instead of 10 and 29 pounds.
