Egypt Daily News – Terrorist Organizations in Syria, opposed to the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, took control of the city of Quneitra in the Syrian Golan, near the border with Israel.
The Syrian army withdrew from its positions in the governorates of Quneitra, Suwayda, and Daraa in the south, for the first time since Israel occupied the Syrian Golan.
While it is still stationed on the outskirts of the city of Homs, bombarding with heavy weapons the areas controlled by the armed factions, amid intermittent clashes along the front line in the northern countryside of Homs.
The so-called “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” and other terrorist organizations began an attack on the village of “Al-Mushrifa” in the Homs countryside, which includes the College of Engineering, which the Syrian army uses as a military barracks. Through it, they targeted the areas of the northern Homs countryside, which the terrorists controlled.
The militants were able to control the cities of Rastan and Talbiseh, and a large number of villages in the northern countryside, and they also took control of the town of “Al-Dar Al-Kabira”, which is only more than a kilometer away from the Military College in Homs, which is considered the largest military college in Syria, amid the withdrawal of officers and members. Sources of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that the city of Homs was devoid of the Syrian army, after its forces withdrew from the city and were stationed on the Homs-Latakia road, while gunmen loyal to the Syrian government remained in the city, in neighborhoods with a Shiite majority, noting at the same time that withdrawal of Russian forces from the “de-escalation” points, which they established in the area near the occupied Syrian Golan, numbering 17 points.
In Suwayda, the armed factions released prisoners for reasons other than criminal, from the central prison in the city, and transferred them from the area, in preparation for their return to their homes, while members of the Syrian army surrendered themselves and their weapons to local militants under the so-called “Suwayda Operations Room,” and the Syrian army withdrew from the artillery battalion and the radar point in Tal Qina, after negotiations with the headquarters, however negotiations are still ongoing with the Syrian army to withdraw from the Military Intelligence branch.
In Quneitra Governorate, the Syrian army withdrew from the artillery company north of the town of “Mamtinah” and the “research company,” and military points in “Khan Arnaba,” “Mashara,” and “Baath City,” in addition to workers in government institutions and United Nations teams in the countryside.
The villages are near the ceasefire line on the occupied Syrian Golan, and the areas are almost empty. According to Observatory sources, the Syrian army soldiers withdrew on foot, in vehicles, and on motorcycles, towards the Damascus countryside and the Sasa’a area.
As for Daraa Governorate, it has become almost completely controlled by the terrorist organizations. The leader of the armed factions, Hassan Abdul-Ghani, said that the terrorists’ forces took control of the city of “Al-Sanamayn” and advanced to a distance of 20 km from the southern gate of Damascus.
The terrorist organizations are closer than ever to taking control of the Syrian capital, Damascus, after extending their control over several points close to it, and their artillery shells reaching its countryside.
The terrorist organizations announced control over the Kanaker and Deir Maker areas, southwest of Damascus, after the army withdrew from them. The Syrian Observatory reported that the terrorist organizations is encircling the towns of Zakia, Khan al-Shih, and Sa`sa in the southern Damascus countryside, confirming the withdrawal of the Syrian army from Artuz and the control of the armed factions over it, making it 10 km from Damascus.
