Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French Senate on Monday and held a discussion about the distinguished Egyptian-French bilateral relations and the successive developments in the region.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Minister Abdel Aty praised the strategic relations between Egypt and France, stressing the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Egypt and France to support communication between the Egyptian and French peoples.

Minister Abdel Aty reviewed the Egyptian efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East, explaining the determinants of the Egyptian position on the crises in the Gaza Strip, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan and Libya, stressing the principles of Egyptian foreign policy that focus on supporting the national state, preserving the institutions of states, respecting their sovereignty, the unity and integrity of their territories, and respecting international law.

Regarding the economic situation in Egypt, the minister reviewed the government’s continued implementation of ambitious economic reform programs despite the successive regional and international crises.

In this regard, he stressed the importance of France’s support for Egypt within the European Union, especially with regard to the implementation of the six axes of the comprehensive and strategic partnership.

He stressed that Egypt worked to create the climate to attract foreign investment and provide incentives to foreign investors, and thus Egypt welcomes more French investments and an increase in the number of French companies operating in Egypt.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs touched on the Egyptian efforts to combat illegal immigration and Egypt’s adoption of a comprehensive approach based on linking immigration to development and addressing the root causes of illegal immigration.

He pointed to the economic burdens on the Egyptian government as a result of hosting millions of refugees and immigrants due to successive crises in the region, which requires more Support from European countries.

He also reviewed the Egyptian successes in combating terrorism through a comprehensive approach that includes the economic, social, intellectual and educational dimensions in addition to the security confrontation.
