Kidnapped Child in Alf Maskan

Egypt Daily News – The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has clarified the truth behind a viral video circulating on social media, showing a woman pleading with passers by in a Cairo street, claiming that her had been kidnapped.

In its first official statement on the incident, issued on Saturday, the ministry stated:

“As part of the ministry’s efforts to verify the authenticity of reports circulating on social media, regarding a woman seen begging near Alf Maskan metro station in the Nozha district of Cairo, claiming that the child accompanying her had been kidnapped, investigations were conducted, leading to the identification and arrest of the woman (a resident of Fayoum Governorate).”

Upon questioning, the woman admitted that she regularly visited Alf Maskan Square to beg and that the child seen with her was merely playing in the garden nearby. She claimed she did not know his identity.

Further investigations led to the identification of the child’s mother (a resident of Ain Shams district), who was summoned along with her son. She stated that she had left her son to play in the area, and he had simply sat beside the woman in the video.

The mother denied any prior acquaintance with the woman and did not press charges against her. Legal procedures have been initiated regarding the incident.
