Egypt Daily News – French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday evening that he has decided to begin discussions on the use of French nuclear weapons to establish a nuclear umbrella for the protection of the entire European Union.

Macron, in a speech to the French people broadcast on the Élysée Palace website, said: “I have decided to initiate a strategic discussion on protecting our allies in the European continent with our nuclear weapons. However, whatever happens, the decision (to use them) will always remain in the hands of the President of the Republic.”

The French president stated that France will convene the chiefs of staff of several countries to discuss the potential deployment of European forces in Ukraine.

He added that “Russia has become a threat to France and Europe as a whole,” noting that, in his view, “Moscow poses a threat in the air, on social media, and in cyberspace.”

Macron emphasized the “need to provide security guarantees for Ukraine in the future because Russia’s word cannot be trusted,” affirming that his goal is “to achieve this by deploying European forces in Ukraine, which will not engage in front-line combat but will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of a peace agreement once it is signed.”

The French president added: “Next week, we will gather in Paris the chiefs of staff of the countries willing to take responsibility in this matter.”

It is worth noting that in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained in detail that Moscow will not attack NATO countries, asserting that there is no reason to do so.

The Russian leader pointed out that Western politicians regularly scare their people with an imaginary Russian threat to distract from internal problems. However, as he stressed, intelligent people are well aware that this is a fabrication.
