Egypt Daily News – After his tour in Tenth of Ramadan City today, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly visited the Egyptian Space Agency, where he was received by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology and a member of the agency’s board of directors, along with Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency.
Upon his arrival at the agency, Dr. Madbouly and his accompanying delegation conducted an inspection tour of the latest facilities and specialized laboratories for the development and manufacturing of satellites. The Prime Minister emphasized the state’s significant interest in this sector, reaffirming its commitment to supporting and advancing the space industry. He highlighted Egypt’s efforts to strengthen its regional and international position in this vital field, aligning with the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030 for a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
The Prime Minister began his tour by inspecting the Assembly, Integration, and Testing Center (AITC) for satellites. Dr. Sherif Sedky explained that this center is one of the largest specialized facilities in the region. He provided a detailed overview of its advanced operational mechanisms and its key role in enabling Egypt to achieve self-sufficiency in satellite manufacturing.
Dr. Madbouly also visited the space environment simulation system, which includes:
- The thermal vacuum chamber
- The dynamic load simulation system
- The mass properties measurement system
- The optics laboratory, specialized in testing space cameras
- The electromagnetic compatibility laboratory
- The solar panel testing system
All of these are essential components for qualifying satellites before launch.
Continuing his tour, the Prime Minister visited the satellite attitude control laboratory, where he examined the space environment simulator for satellite dynamics. Dr. Sedky explained that this device is used for space qualification of attitude and flight control systems and is the only one of its kind in Africa and the Middle East. He added that this same technology is used by the German Space Agency, helping to reduce post-launch control and guidance system testing times.
The tour also included a visit to the satellite control and reception station, where Dr. Madbouly monitored operations related to Misr Sat 2. He reviewed the satellite’s advanced technical capabilities, which were demonstrated through high-resolution images of various locations across Egypt captured by the satellite. This highlights Egypt’s progress in remote sensing and space applications.
The Prime Minister concluded his tour by inspecting the Space Academy building, which houses the latest training and qualification laboratories in space sciences, including the educational satellite laboratory “Space Keys.” He also visited the main conference hall, which will host the international conference “New Space Africa 2025,” a key platform for exchanging expertise and enhancing regional and international cooperation in the space sector.
