Abdel Ati: Without Egyptian-Qatari coordination, a ceasefire agreement would not have been reached in Gaza

Egypt Daily News – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, said that the two-state solution is to ensure that waves of violence will not be repeated, and that work must be done to reach a just and lasting peace in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution.

During a joint press conference with his Nigerian counterpart in Cairo, Abdel Ati stressed the necessity of sustaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration referred to Egyptian-Qatari coordination at the highest level, without which a ceasefire agreement would not have been reached in Gaza, noting that Egypt was able, with the participation of Qatar and the United States of America, to reach an agreement between the Israeli occupation forces and the Palestinian factions for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Badr Abdel Ati, stressed the necessity of dealing with the catastrophic conditions in Gaza through the delivery of aid, early recovery projects, and basic services rehabilitation projects.

He added, during a press conference broadcast by Cairo News Channel, that the situation in Gaza is catastrophic and extremely miserable, stressing that Egypt will spare no effort in providing relief to our people in Gaza in cooperation with the international community, pointing out that Egypt hosted a conference in Cairo, and cash amounts exceeding $176 million were pledged. To provide immediate aid to Gaza.

He pointed out the necessity of providing food and medical equipment and rehabilitating schools and hospitals, adding: “We are working faithfully under clear directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in coordination with all concerned parties, to ensure the implementation of the important agreement and provide relief for the people of Gaza who paid a heavy price as a result of the Israeli aggression.”
