Egypt Daily News – The spokesperson for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida, confirmed on Friday that half of the living Israeli hostages are currently located in areas within the Gaza Strip that the Israeli army recently requested the residents to evacuate.
Abu Ubaida explained, in tweets posted on his Telegram channel, that the al-Qassam Brigades “decided not to transfer these prisoners from those areas and to keep them under tight security measures, though their lives are at severe risk.”
He emphasized that this decision comes in response to the recent escalation by the Israeli occupation.
He stated, “The opportunity is still available for the occupation if it is serious about protecting the lives of its prisoners,” calling for immediate negotiations to evacuate them or reach an agreement for their release.
Abu Ubaida also confirmed that Netanyahu’s government bears full responsibility for the prisoners’ fate, reminding that it had abandoned the exchange agreement reached last January. “Had they adhered to it, most of the prisoners would be in their homes today,” he added.
