Egypt Daily News – Today, authorities ordered the extension of Zamalek football player Ahmed Fattouh’s detention for an additional 15 days as investigations continue into a tragic traffic accident that resulted in the death of a police officer.
Fattouh, who was involved in the incident alongside his teammate, goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi, underwent drug testing at Al-Alamein Model Hospital, which confirmed the presence of hashish in his system.
According to medical sources, the urine analysis indicated that Fattouh tested positive solely for cannabis, and no traces of other substances, including Tramadol, were detected.
Three experts in toxicology and addiction confirmed that Fattouh’s usage pertains to hashish, marijuana, or similar substances. However, they emphasized that this initial test only confirms drug use and that further testing is necessary to determine the extent of usage and its potential impact on his cognitive functions.
A source pointed out that the investigating authorities have ordered additional confirmatory tests to be conducted at forensic laboratories. Meanwhile, a security source detailed that Fattouh and Sobhi were apprehended following the fatal accident, which was attributed to Fattouh’s high-speed driving.
He is currently being held at the El Alamein Police Department, with the case being forwarded to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings.
