Egypt Daily News – The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Ahmed Yasser Al-Mohammadi, the football player for Al-Rayyan Club in Qatar and the brother of former Zamalek star Hussein Yasser Al-Mohammadi, to three years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl in Qatar two years ago.

Earlier, the Cairo Central Prosecution decided to refer the accused, Ahmed Yasser Al-Mohammadi, to criminal trial after the prosecution, headed by Counselor Nour El-Din Abu Al-Fadl, Director of the Cairo Central Prosecution at Abdeen Court, completed its investigations with him. He was charged with sexually assaulting a girl in Qatar two years ago while they were at a party with others in someone’s house in Qatar.

Investigations revealed that the player Ahmed Yasser Al-Mohammadi came from Qatar to live in Egypt for about two years, following the decision of the Qatari judicial authorities to release him on bail until the investigations into the incident are completed.

During the interrogation by the Cairo Central Prosecution regarding the accused player’s presence in Egypt after the incident, he confirmed that his coming to Egypt was not an escape, but rather that he decided to live in Egypt until the legal proceedings regarding the incident were completed.

This was due to the decision issued against him by Al Rayyan Club to suspend him from playing football after the incident was brought before the judicial authorities in Qatar until it was resolved and his innocence was proven or not.

The accused added in the investigations that he did not commit the act of sexual assault on the girl against her will as she mentioned in her accusation against him, affirming that a relationship occurred between them with her consent.

The accused, Ahmed Al-Mohammadi, also denied during the investigations before the prosecution the girl’s claim that he raped her during the party held at one of their friends’ houses, pointing out the presence of several people which contradicts the girl’s story.

All witnesses in the investigations before the relevant authorities in Qatar denied hearing any cries for help from the girl.

It is worth mentioning that a ruling was issued by the Qatari judiciary against the accused, sentencing him to 5 years in prison in the same case. The accused was sought to enforce the ruling, but the Qatari authorities tracked his movements and confirmed his presence in Egypt.

They sent a request through Interpol to Egypt to arrest him to enforce the ruling issued against him in Qatar, as well as a delegation from the Qatari judiciary to the Egyptian judiciary to investigate again and retrial the accused in Egypt in the same case.

According to the international cooperation agreement between the judicial authorities in Egypt and Qatar, the Qatari judiciary has delegated the Egyptian authorities and the Egyptian judiciary to investigate the accused in the incident and take all necessary legal actions against him based on the charges against him in this case, with the assistance of the Qatari judicial authorities if required.

The security forces of the Ministry of Interior had arrested the player Ahmed Yasser Al-Mohammadi, brother of Hussein Yasser Al-Mohammadi, former player of Al-Ahly and Zamalek, in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in South Sinai Governorate, at the request of Interpol after a 5-year prison sentence was issued against him by one of the Qatari courts.

He was transferred to the Central Cairo Prosecution at Abdeen Court to investigate the incident of his accusation of raping a girl in Qatar.
