Al-Ahly beats Stade Abidjan 4-2 in the African Champions League

Egypt Daily News – Al-Ahly began its campaign in the group stage of the African League by defeating Stade Abidjan, Ivory Coast, 4-2, on Tuesday evening, in the African Champions League.

Al-Ahly took the lead with a hat-trick scored by Mahmoud Kahraba, Mohamed Magdy Afsha and Hussein El-Shahat in the 14th, 21st and 26th minutes, and Kasum Kone reduced the difference for the visitors with a goal from a header in the 36th minute.

Three minutes into the second half, Kahraba scored his second and Al-Ahly’s fourth goal with a scissor kick after a cross from Khaled Abdel Fattah.

Abidjan Stadium reduced the gap again with a goal from Roger Assalé in the 55th minute.

In addition to the four goals, Kahraba missed two chances in front of an empty goal, in addition to other attempts by the duo Taher Mohamed, Hussein Al-Shahat and Afsha throughout the two halves.

The Ivorian team wasted two chances for Saint-Génant, which were sent away by Mohamed El-Shenawy for a corner, in addition to another attempt from the same player that bounced off the crossbar.

Al-Ahly achieved the first three points in its journey in the third group, and will be a guest against Orlando Pirates on December 7 in South Africa.

Al-Ahly coach Marcel Kohler took advantage of the match to give an opportunity to a large number of substitutes, such as Reda Selim, Percy Tau, Omar Al-Saei and Karim Al-Dabis, who participated in the last 20 minutes.
