Egypt Daily News – A spokesman for the US National Security Council said that the United States fundamentally rejects the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials.

The official added, “The US administration remains deeply concerned about the International Criminal Prosecutor’s rush to request arrest warrants and the disturbing procedural errors that led to this decision.”

He added that the United States made it clear that the International Criminal Court “does not have jurisdiction over this matter, and that the next steps will be discussed in coordination with partners, including Israel.”

On Thursday, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Galant regarding alleged war crimes in Gaza.

Netanyahu and Gallant are accused of committing crimes against humanity and war crimes from at least October 8, 2023 until at least May 20, 2024, the day on which the Public Prosecution submitted requests to issue arrest warrants.

The ICC statement said: “There are reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant committed crimes and supervised attacks on the civilian population.”

He explained: “The alleged war crimes include murder, persecution and other inhumane acts and that Israel’s acceptance of the court’s jurisdiction is unnecessary. Disclosing these arrest orders is in the interest of the victims.”
