American delegation meets Ahmed Al Sharaa

Egypt Daily News – An American delegation currently visiting Damascus discussed with Ahmed Al-Sharaa the lifting of sanctions and the Caesar Act on the Syrian people, and the removal of “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” from terrorist lists.

The US State Department announced earlier today that 3 senior American diplomats arrived in Damascus to meet with Ahmed Al-Sharaa, and that the delegation will meet with representatives of Syrian civil society, activists, and members of various communities, to discuss “their vision for the future of their country and how the United States can support them.”

The State Department noted that officials will work to uncover information about missing Americans Austin Tice, Majd Kamalmaz and others. Axios has also reported the delegation as saying that the meeting was positive.

The Syrian newspaper “Al-Watan” said, citing informed sources, that the interim government is working to hold an expanded meeting in Damascus to launch a comprehensive national dialogue in the coming days.

It stated that the meeting will lay the foundations for discussion on the transitional phase and the mechanism for managing state affairs in the coming period, stressing that the Syrian government has completed its preparations for the meeting and it will be held within days.
