Egypt Daily News – Britain announced on Saturday that it has restored diplomatic relations with Syria, coinciding with the visit of Foreign Secretary David Lammy to the Syrian capital, Damascus, after a 14-year break.

In a statement, Lammy said, “There is renewed hope for the Syrian people. The United Kingdom is restoring diplomatic relations because it is in our interest to support the new government in fulfilling its commitments to build a more stable, safer, and prosperous future for all Syrians.”
