Egypt Daily News – An informed Egyptian source said that the Cairo meeting regarding implementing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip ended, amid a positive atmosphere.

The source confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been agreed upon to implement the agreement, including the formation of a joint operations room in Cairo to follow up on the implementation of the procedures, noting that the room includes representatives of Egypt, Palestine, Qatar, the United States, and Israel, to ensure effective coordination and follow up on compliance with the terms of the agreement.

The day before yesterday, Wednesday, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States of America announced that the two parties to the conflict in the Gaza Strip had reached an agreement to exchange prisoners and detainees and return to sustainable calm, in order to achieve a permanent ceasefire between the two parties, and it is expected that a hostages swap will begin on Sunday 19th January.

Technical meetings to develop mechanisms for implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza took place today in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the participation of Egyptian, Qatari, American and Israeli teams.

Israeli delegation in Cairo
An Israeli security delegation, including high-ranking officials in the Israeli security services, including the army, in addition to the coordinator of Israeli government operations in the Palestinian territories, Ghassan Alian, arrived in Cairo earlier, according to what was reported by the “Walla Hebrew” website.

The report, citing Israeli officials, stated that the delegation’s visit to Cairo was to coordinate the implementation of the detainees’ deal and the ceasefire in Gaza, especially with regard to coordination of the release of detainees on the first day of the ceasefire.

An Israeli official, described by the report as high-level, said that other issues that the security delegation will address will be the reopening of the Palestinian Rafah crossing, to evacuate the wounded from Gaza, and the entry of humanitarian aid, as stipulated in the agreement.

The first stage of the agreement
The implementation of the first phase, which lasts 42 days, will begin on Sunday, and includes a ceasefire, the withdrawal and repositioning of Israeli occupation forces outside densely populated areas, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, the exchange of the remains of the deceased, the return of internally displaced persons to their places of residence in the Gaza Strip, and facilitating the departure of the sick and wounded to receive treatment. treatment, and intensifying the introduction and safe and effective distribution of humanitarian aid on a large scale throughout the Gaza Strip, according to an official statement by the mediators.
