Mahmoud Al-Asqalany, head of the Citizens Against High Prices Association, said that the recent increase will lead to a new wave of inflation, given that diesel and fuel are commodities that lead to inflation.

He added: “We hope that the increase in the price of diesel specifically, which is included in the cost of goods and products, especially food products, will be reconsidered.”

Al-Asqalani called for the inevitability of temporarily halting the IMF agreement until the recent increase is absorbed and the social shocks resulting from potential inflation are absorbed in order to protect social peace.
