Egypt Daily News – Israeli airstrikes in Masyaf have sparked widespread condemnation, particularly from the Iranian government, which called the strikes “criminal attacks.”
Official Syrian sources reported that the bombardment resulted in 16 fatalities and 43 injuries, with the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimating the death toll could rise to 25, including eight Syrian soldiers.
The airstrikes specifically targeted military installations, including a Scientific Research Center in Masyaf, where Iranian forces are believed to be engaged in the development of precision missiles and drones.
This operation involved approximately 15 airstrikes, marking one of the most significant assaults since the Syrian conflict began in 2011.
While Syrian state media claimed some success in intercepting incoming missiles with its defense systems, the overall damage was substantial, leading to extensive fires and destruction in the affected areas. Eyewitness videos shared on social media depicted the explosions that occurred during the strikes.
In their reaction, Iranian officials called for an end to any support for Israel and highlighted the urgency of collective action against Israel’s military activities in Syria and the broader region.
This incident reflects a continuing trend of Israeli airstrikes aimed at curtailing Iran’s military foothold close to its borders, further heightening the already tense dynamics in the area.
