Taif to Host African Super Cup Match between Egypt's Ahly, Algeria's USM Alger

Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2023 African Super Cup match, featuring Egypt's Ahly, the African Champions League champions, and Algeria's USM Alger, the African Confederation Cup champions next month. The match is scheduled to take place at King Fahd Stadium in Taif on September 15.

The President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser bin Hassan Al-Miss'hal, thanked the Saudi leadership for the generous support to the sports sector in the Kingdom.

This support has elevated the nation to an exemplary destination for hosting regional, continental, and global sporting events, he said. Al-Miss'hal also commended the significant efforts and dedication of the Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, in using all available resources to successfully host major events.

The Secretary General of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Ibrahim Al-Qassim, affirmed that hosting such an event exemplifies the commitment of the Saudi Federation to partnering with the African Football Confederation (CAF) in event hosting and match organization. He emphasized that this event marks a significant milestone in the cooperation between the two federations.

CAF Secretary-General Veron Mosengo-Omba expressed enthusiasm about the hosting of the African Super Cup in the Kingdom. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Saudi football community for its constructive cooperation with CAF.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation had signed a 5-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CAF to host competitions and enhancing opportunities for collaboration.
