Egypt Daily News – In a recent phone call between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti and Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi underscores the increasing concern among regional powers regarding the escalating tensions in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Tamer al-Sheikh, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, conveyed that Minister Abdel Atti expressed deep concern over the widening scope of conflict in the region, which he warned could have severe consequences for both regional and international peace and security.
During the conversation, Abdel Atti emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and called for restraint to prevent the situation from deteriorating into a wider regional war.
He reiterated Egypt’s stance on the developments in southern Lebanon, firmly rejecting any violations of Lebanese sovereignty while advocating for an immediate ceasefire.
Abdel Atti highlighted the crucial role of Lebanese institutions, particularly the Lebanese Army, in restoring stability to the country amid the current political turmoil, and stressed the importance of fully implementing Security Council Resolution 1701 to ensure lasting peace.
