The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional issues of mutual concern.
According to Ambassador Tammam Khalaf, official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdel-Aati emphasized the deep fraternal ties between Egypt and Qatar and the continuous development of their relations across various sectors. He highlighted the shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation.
During the conversation, the Egyptian minister pointed to the Alamein Rom development project as a model for successful economic partnership between the two nations. He also expressed Egypt’s hope for increased Qatari investment, building on recent positive momentum to further mutual interests.
The ministers also discussed the signing of a joint memorandum of understanding in the energy sector on January 4, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening institutional cooperation, enhancing regional energy security, and maximizing the countries’ available resources.
Regional issues formed a central part of the discussion. The ministers exchanged views on developments in the Gaza Strip, including efforts to implement the second phase of the U.S.-proposed plan, particularly regarding Israeli withdrawals. Minister Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of establishing a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage Gaza’s affairs alongside the formation of an international stabilization force. The call further addressed the situation in Yemen. Minister Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s firm support for Yemen’s unity, territorial integrity, and national institutions. He emphasized the need to pursue de-escalation, avoid unilateral actions, and reach a comprehensive political solution through intra-Yemeni dialogue, ensuring the country’s stability and security for its citizens.
Concluding the conversation, both ministers agreed on the importance of continued close coordination and consultation to support regional stability and reinforce cooperation between Egypt and Qatar across political, economic, and strategic areas.
