Egypt Daily News – The Egyptian Border Guard announced on Saturday that it had carried out operations targeting attempts to harm the country’s national security.
This came in a statement by the Egyptian military, which said: “In implementation of the directives of the General Command of the Armed Forces to intensify security efforts on all strategic fronts, the Border Guard forces continued their efforts in carrying out successful strikes and thwarting attempts aimed at harming Egyptian national security.
They managed to arrest several individuals in possession of various types of weapons and ammunition. They also succeeded in seizing quantities of narcotics — including hashish, hydro, opium, and drug pills during security and inspection operations at ferries, tunnels, roads, and various routes.”
The statement added: “As part of efforts to thwart different smuggling attempts, the Border Guard forces seized a drone used by criminal elements in an attempt to smuggle narcotics across the border. It was taken under control immediately after crossing into Egyptian territory.”
