Egypt’s Minister of Defense and Military Production, General Abdel Mageed Saqr, held talks with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau during an official meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense’s General Secretariat in Cairo.
The meeting focused on a range of issues of mutual interest, including regional and international developments and their implications for security and stability in the Middle East and beyond. Discussions reflected ongoing coordination between the two sides amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the region.
General Saqr underscored the depth of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, praising the continued expansion of bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries. He highlighted the importance of military and training collaboration as a cornerstone of the long-standing defense relationship between Cairo and Washington.
For his part, Deputy Secretary Landau commended Egypt’s influential and active role at both the regional and international levels. He praised Cairo’s efforts to promote security and stability in the Middle East and across the African continent, noting Egypt’s role as a key regional partner in addressing complex security challenges.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, along with a number of senior military commanders. The US side was represented by the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Cairo, in addition to members of the accompanying delegation.
The talks come within the framework of ongoing high-level engagement between Egypt and the United States, reflecting continued dialogue on defense cooperation, regional security, and strategic coordination amid evolving regional dynamics.
