Egyptian Foreign Minister Chairs Egypt’s Delegation at Political Consultation Committee with Saudi Arabia in Riyadh

Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, led the Egyptian delegation at the meeting of the Political Consultation and Follow-Up Committee with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during his visit to Riyadh on Monday, April 21, 2025. The Saudi delegation was headed by Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Foreign Minister.

Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Aty held a bilateral meeting with his Saudi counterpart ahead of the committee’s session. During the meeting, both sides praised the close bilateral ties and the deep historical and fraternal bonds between the two brotherly nations, as well as the rapid development of their relationship.

Ambassador Khalaf explained that the meeting reflected the shared aspiration to strengthen cooperation in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with the aim of deepening and expanding ties across various fields, and coordinating positions on issues of mutual interest to serve the interests of both peoples.

During the committee sessions, the two ministers discussed ways to support economic and investment relations between the two countries. Foreign Minister Abdel Aty stressed the need to maximize the benefits of the existing institutional frameworks for economic cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and to exchange visits of high-level officials, business leaders, and investors.

He highlighted the successful visit of the Egyptian-Saudi Business Council and the Federation of Saudi Chambers to Cairo from April 12 to 14, which focused on exploring available investment opportunities. He emphasized the importance of building on the outcomes of this visit to enhance economic cooperation and increase Saudi investments in Egypt. He also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to launching the Egyptian-Saudi Investment Forum as a key step in strengthening economic relations between the two nations.

The Foreign Minister outlined Egypt’s efforts to provide an optimal investment climate for Saudi investors and businesspeople, reviewing the incentives offered to support foreign investment and the financial and tax reforms adopted by the Egyptian government.

He stressed the importance of translating the fraternal ties and the qualitative shift in institutional relations into practical outcomes to fulfill the aspirations of the Egyptian and Saudi peoples for comprehensive and sustainable development, and to elevate the level of economic and trade partnership to meet the expectations of both countries by doubling trade exchange.

The Foreign Minister also discussed the importance Egypt places on localizing industry and technology, highlighting the advanced priority given to this goal and emphasizing the need for industrial integration between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He presented the facilitation measures offered to investors in the industrial sector.

He pointed to the importance of aligning Egypt’s Vision 2030 with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and achieving integration between the industrial strategies of the two countries.

On the regional front, the two ministers exchanged views on various regional issues of mutual concern, primarily the developments in Gaza. They discussed efforts for de-escalation and the consolidation of the ceasefire in Gaza, especially amid the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Strip. Both sides agreed on a firm rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.

They also addressed the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan for Gaza and the upcoming international conference that Egypt is set to host in cooperation with the United Nations and the Palestinian government, aimed at early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.

The committee also saw an exchange of views on the latest developments in Sudan, Syria, Lebanon, the Yemeni crisis, and maritime security in the Red Sea. The two sides agreed on their views regarding these issues and reaffirmed their joint commitment to achieving security and stability in the region.
