Egypt Daily News – A phone call took place today, Monday, between Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, and Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy for the Middle East. The call was part of their regular communications to discuss the distinguished Egyptian-American bilateral relations, which have a strategic character, as well as to exchange views and assessments regarding developments in Gaza.
The discussion covered joint efforts by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar to secure the release of hostages, achieve de-escalation, and stabilize and implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts to achieve security, peace, and stability in the Middle East, aiming to make the region free of conflicts and wars and to realize the US administration’s vision of ending more than 70 years of conflict in the region.
Additionally, Minister Abdel Aty briefed the US official on Egypt’s comprehensive modernization and development process, led by the President, and the numerous achievements made in this regard over the past years. He highlighted the positive macroeconomic indicators of the Egyptian economy, which have been praised by various international institutions, including the International Monetary Fund.
Witkoff praised the close relations between the two friendly countries and Egypt’s vital and pivotal role in achieving security, peace, and stability in the region. He also commended Egypt’s efforts, alongside Qatar, in attempting to reach a resolution that ensures the release of hostages and the stabilization of the ceasefire in Gaza.
