Egypt Daily News – Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, stated that his discussions with his Lebanese counterpart, Youssef Raji, focused on bilateral relations between Egypt and Lebanon. He said the meeting was an opportune moment to discuss ways to develop and activate cooperation in various political, economic, cultural, and artistic fields.
During a joint press conference with the Lebanese foreign minister on Tuesday evening, he confirmed that both sides agreed to give a boost to their relationship and elevate it to broader horizons, reflecting the deep ties of friendship between the two peoples and in implementation of the directives of the presidents of both countries.
He noted that the joint high committee between the two countries is expected to convene soon in Cairo this year, with broad participation from ministers of both sides in various areas of cooperation, enhancing the prospects of brotherly relations. He also pointed out that they held extensive discussions on the situation in Lebanon, especially in light of the continued Israeli occupation of the southern region and the recent Israeli aggression that targeted innocent civilians and caused severe damage to infrastructure in several cities.
He added: “I affirmed Egypt’s full support for the sincere efforts being made by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and the government led by Nawaf Salam to restore security and stability in Lebanon and fulfill the aspirations of its people for prosperity and improved living standards.”
He reiterated the demand for the complete and unconditional Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty over its territory, and the importance of avoiding renewed escalation, while calling for the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701. He emphasized “President El-Sisi’s and Egypt’s full support for the Lebanese state and its national institutions.”
Lebanese Foreign Minister: We rely on Egypt to fully liberate our country from Israeli occupation
Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji expressed his gratitude for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s unwavering and constant support for Lebanon, especially concerning diplomatic efforts to end the Israeli occupation of the south.
During a joint press conference with Dr. Badr Abdel Aty on Tuesday, he said: “We rely on Egypt to fully liberate our country from occupation.”
He noted that “Lebanon is going through a new phase in its history and entering a promising new era, fully supported by the Lebanese people, Arab brothers, and the international community.”
He affirmed Lebanon’s support for Egypt’s approach to ending the war in Gaza, saying to Abdel Aty: “We fully support you in your policy regarding the tragedy in Gaza and its people.”
Foreign Minister: Our contacts continue to stop Israel’s violation of Arab sovereignty
Dr. Badr Abdel Aty stated that Egypt maintains continuous contact with all concerned regional and international parties to stop all forms of violations against the sovereignty of Arab states, as well as the acts of killing and intimidation carried out by Israel through its aggressive policies.
He noted during the joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart that “the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter are being put to the test.”
He added: “A single state imposing its will and vision while violating the sovereignty of other nations is inconsistent with the concept of an international order. There is a growing sense of despair among public opinion in the region and the world due to one side’s illusion that the arrogance of power can bring it security, peace, and stability.”
He stressed the importance of “respecting international law, the sovereignty of states, and refraining from double standards,” saying, “The international community must enforce its will in this regard.”
