During a phone call with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egyptian Foreign Minister, stressed that Egypt stands by the Syrian people, stressing the need for the political transition process in Syria to be comprehensive, and to take place with national ownership away from any external dictates, in a way that contributes to In achieving security and stability in Syria.

He added that Egypt calls for ensuring the unity of the Syrian state and its territorial integrity, while the US Secretary of State expressed during the call his country’s deep appreciation for the important role played by Egypt in achieving security and stability in the region.

Egyptian support for Syria
Egypt had decided to send relief and medical supplies to Syria, and Egyptian media said that Cairo had sent an aid plane to Damascus carrying 15 tons of medical and relief supplies, while Egyptian officials said that the current aid plane would not be the last.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani announced that he had received a call from Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, in which he stressed the importance of the two countries’ role in achieving stability and prosperity for the region.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry revealed the details of what took place during the call, as Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the ministry’s official spokesman, confirmed that Minister Abdel-Ati stressed that Egypt fully stands with the Syrian people and supports their legitimate aspirations, calling on all Syrian parties in this decisive stage to uphold the national interest, Supporting stability in Syria, and preserving its national institutions, capabilities, unity and territorial integrity.

The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry added that the Egyptian Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of the political process adopting a comprehensive and inclusive approach for all Syrian national forces that reflects the societal, religious, sectarian and ethnic diversity within Syria.
