Egypt Daily News – Prominent Egyptian religious figures have affirmed that Egyptians stand by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi against any attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause or compromise Egypt’s national principles, rejecting plans to displace Palestinians.
Egyptian opposition to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements regarding the possible relocation of Palestinians to Sinai has intensified, with Egyptians reaffirming their historical and steadfast stance in support of the Palestinian cause.
Renowned Islamic preacher Sheikh Ahmed Turk responded to Trump’s remarks by stating, “105 million Egyptians will not allow Egypt to be threatened because the entire nation stands behind its leader, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. We are united with him in rejecting the forced displacement of Palestinians to Sinai or anywhere else and in resisting any attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause or oppress its people.”
Turk highlighted Egypt’s long history of overcoming challenges, emphasizing that the country has faced greater dangers and emerged victorious through its resilience and faith. Addressing Trump directly, he implied that previous pressures on Egypt had failed.
He further stressed that “Egypt has unwavering principles that do not change. Trump’s statements or those of anyone else will not shake us. Egypt has sacrificed tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded for the Palestinian cause, and it will never abandon or surrender.”
Similarly, former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic scholar Sheikh Saad Al-Faqi reaffirmed that “the Egyptian people firmly stand by their principles, unwavering in the face of Trump’s moves and those who support him, fully backing President El-Sisi.” He added that “Egypt is a nation with a long and enduring history, having faced countless challenges that shattered on its doorstep. Those who bet on its downfall have always lost, as history bears witness to its sacrifices known far and wide.”
Al-Faqi emphasized that “Egypt has never succumbed to blackmail throughout its history, and no one, regardless of their influence, can break its will,” delivering a strong message rejecting any external pressures to alter Egypt’s stance on the Palestinian cause.
It is safe to say that the Egyptian people stand by their President 100% and that giving an inch of Sinai to anyone is a big “no no” for Egyptians.
Trump’s remarks were made in the context of his vision for American control over Gaza, turning it into a tourist destination, which he suggested would require evacuating its residents to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan. His comments have sparked widespread controversy and strong reactions from both Cairo and Amman.
