Heatwave hits the country

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority had issued warnings ahead of a heatwave expected to hit the country on Friday and Saturday, with temperatures forecasted to exceed seasonal averages.

According to an official statement, a hot air mass coming from the Arabian Peninsula was responsible for the intense heat, especially across the Nile Delta, Greater Cairo, and northern Upper Egypt. High temperatures were expected to range between 40°C and 43°C. Citizens were advised to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours—from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.—stay hydrated, and wear light, cotton clothing.

Saturday marked the peak of the heatwave, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 37°C and 40°C in the north, reaching up to 45°C in southern regions.

Dusty winds in several areas

The meteorological authority also warned of dusty winds in exposed areas, including Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, the western and western desert coasts, and southern regions, with intermittent activity throughout the day.

Noticeable weather improvement starting Sunday

Starting Sunday, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease in the northern parts of the country, including Greater Cairo, by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius. Forecasts predict highs of 24°C to 26°C on the northern coasts and 33°C to 35°C in Greater Cairo.
