Egypt Daily News – The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced good news for fans of clubs participating in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to be held in the United States.
In mid-January, FIFA announced the release of tickets for the World Cup, which kicks off on June 15, 2025, with Egypt’s Al Ahly facing Inter Miami at Hard Rock Stadium.
What’s the story?
The FIFA FIFA Club World Cup is a new tournament held every four years with 32 clubs competing in it, and the first edition will be held from June 15 to July 13, 2025.
The pre-announced ticket prices for the FIFA Club World Cup caused widespread anger among fans amid concerns from FIFA officials about attendance and interest in the tournament.
FIFA noticed a very slow sale of match tickets, which were released on its official website, due to the high value of the tickets, causing concerns about empty seats in the matches.
What happened?
According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, “FIFA” decided to reduce the prices of tickets for the Club World Cup in order to help the success of the tournament.
The newspaper revealed that the cost of the cheapest tickets for the knockout rounds dropped to about 385 dollars, while the price of the cheapest ticket for the semi-finals was reduced from 526 dollars to 140 dollars.
The cheapest tickets for the final, which were on sale for $892, are now on sale for $300.
A loyalty reward from FIFA
According to the British newspaper, FIFA insists that the move is not a price cut, but rather the creation of a new category aimed at rewarding the loyalty of fans traveling to the United States.
The Daily Mail explained: “Those who have already bought tickets can exchange them for those in the new tier. The move comes amid what appears to be slow sales at best and fears of empty seats at the tournament.”
Empty seats
For the opening match, between Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and Egypt’s Al Ahly at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on June 15, there are at least 17 sections with more than 100 seats left to sell.
For the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, there are 27 sections with more than 100 seats available, and there are similar levels of availability for both semifinal matches, which take place at the same venue.
