Egypt Daily News – The first commercial flight took off from Damascus International Airport to Aleppo Airport today, Wednesday, since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, after the airport had been closed for 10 days since the armed factions overthrew the previous regime.

Thus, Damascus International Airport will officially reopen with flights of “Syrian Air” affiliated with the Syrian national airline, but at the present time only domestic flights will resume due to the presence of only two planes in service, according to Syrian TV.

The Syrian television explained, without revealing further details, that there were officials from the new Syrian authorities on board this flight.

The airport director, Anis Falouh, had previously stated that all cadres are working in an integrated manner and with great cooperation, to restore the situation to what it is at the airport, indicating that the final stages of operating the airport are nearing the end.

Aleppo International Airport, which had been closed since November 28, was also reopened, before the armed factions took control of the second largest Syrian city. Syrian television has not yet announced the date for the resumption and operation of international flights.
