Egypt Daily News – Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the visit of Dr. Abdel -Ati to Ankara today comes within the framework of “upward momentum” witnessed by Egyptian -Turkish relations at an accelerated pace, which started last year with the presidential visits between the two presidents and which contributed to “restoring relations to its natural position. ”

He pointed out that the Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a written message from President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi to President Erdogan, which dealt with bilateral relations and developments on a number of important regional files of common concern from both sides during his meeting with the Turkish president.

He explained that the dialogue with President Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan dealt with the developments of the Palestinian issue, Egypt’s efforts to stabilize the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and implement its three stages, and the ongoing Egyptian arrangements for early recovery of the Gaza Strip and preparing for reconstruction.

He added that the meetings dealt with Egypt’s position on developments in Syria, and its aspiration to support the Syrian people and the restoration of Syria for security and stability through the inauguration of a comprehensive political process that is a source of stability in the region.

He stressed that the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs was not limited to dealing with regional files; rather, there was an extensive discussions of the bilateral relations between the two countries, in light of a common desire to revive economic relations and trade exchange, and work to reach the volume of mutual trade reaching 15 billion dollars, compared to about 8 to 9 billion dollars currently.
