Egypt Daily News – The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that over 40,000 civilian Palestinians have lost their lives since Israel began its military operations against Hamas on October 7, 2023.

This staggering figure was highlighted as the death toll reached 40,005, with 40 fatalities recorded in just the past 24 hours. This indicates that roughly one in every 55 individuals in the Gaza Strip has died during this conflict.

Additionally, the ministry has reported over 92,401 cases of infection, illustrating the severe health crisis compounded by the ongoing violence.

The Government Information Office in Gaza has indicated that around 10,000 individuals are currently missing, presumed trapped under debris resulting from the destruction.

The Palestinian authorities have indicated that they do not differentiate between combatants and civilians in their casualty counts, but it is generally understood that the majority of the deceased are civilians, including a significant number of women and children.

In contrast, Israeli officials have stated that over 14,000 fighters have been killed over the course of the war. It is noted that CNN and other independent entities have been unable to verify these figures.

These grim reports reflect the profound humanitarian crisis and escalating suffering in Gaza, characterized by widespread malnutrition and instability as the conflict stretches into its tenth month.
